Philadelphia Parking Authority

Bittenbender Construction served as the general contractor to complete the general construction scope of work for the exterior and streetscape improvements of an existing 1950s era parking garage for the Philadelphia Parking Authority. General construction scope included demolition of existing façade elements and installation of new custom structural steel trusses on the façade to support a new ornamental glass rain screen system. Application of new façade finishes also includes custom phenolic panels and ceramic rain screen tiles, roofing and waterproofing systems. A new patterned and colored concrete sidewalk and new curbs were installed along a complete city-block without disruption to existing operating businesses and garage. At 8th & Filbert, renovations and improvements were completed, including hazardous material removal and asbestos abatement, to existing space. Coordinating ongoing operations of all existing tenant retail and commercial spaces, PPA permit customer service office and parking garage space. The first phase of work is in the vacant spaces so that all operating businesses can continue uninterrupted and will be able to move into the new spaces upon completion.
