Ground Reconsidered
The City of Philadelphia partnered with Aimco, owners of Park Towne Place and devised a plan to redevelop the historic Park Towne Place (PTP) Museum District Residences and the City-owned land located directly in front of the PTP on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The park is part of the city’s larger vision, “More Park Less Way” – providing more recreational opportunities in the long-term for residences and visitors.
Bittenbender Construction served as the General Contractor for the project. The scope of work included significant landscape upgrades, paths and a very important sculpture installation. The park now features a small performing arts stage and flex spaces for additional programming like movie nights, concerts, and food trucks.
The Association for Public Art (aPA) worked in conjunction with our team, Philadelphia Parks and Recreation and Landscape Architect, Ground Reconsidered to install Marcks; Maja sculpture on the south side of the Parkway at 22nd Street.
