Bittenbender Construction served as the construction manager overseeing the complete renovation of the historic park, including fountain restoration, site work, new walkways, site lighting, ticket booths, administrative/security building, restroom facilities, and landscaping. The new park features a miniature golf course, a carousel, a new playground, and retail kiosks.
In 2019, Bittenbender served as the General Contractor for the renovations to the 180 year old historic water fountain at Franklin Square Park. The water fountain is the oldest restored and in-use water fountain in the country. Improvements and renovations included a concrete replacement at the upper pool, re-coating of the concrete in the lower and upper pools as well as new pumps, filtration equipment, electrical panels. The fountains new jets and LED light fixtures allow for a choreographed “fountain show” that will play on a timed schedule at the park daily.
Bittenbender was given an honorable mention award for this project in the category of Best Adaptive Re-Use for the 2007 General Building Contractors Association, Construction Excellence Awards.
